Microsoft is Hiring a Senior Critical Infrastructure Platform Services (CIPS) Manager

The role is part of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, which is responsible for the infrastructure powering services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, and Microsoft Azure. As a Senior CIPS Manager, you’ll lead a team responsible for the design, engineering, and operation of critical infrastructure across Microsoft's global datacenters. This role emphasizes automation, data-driven engineering, and environmental sustainability, making it a unique opportunity for those passionate about cutting-edge technology and global-scale cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People Management: Lead and develop a team of Platform Engineers, fostering a culture of empowerment and accountability.
  • Technical Expertise: Oversee the design and operation of the critical infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of performance, reliability, and security.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain and improve infrastructure operations, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met, while driving continuous improvement through automation and process enhancements.
  • Project Management: Manage platform engineering projects from start to finish using Agile methodologies and DevOps tools, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Promote collaboration across teams, resolve conflicts, and share best practices to improve operations and development across Microsoft’s global infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 3+ years of technical experience in software, network, service, or systems engineering.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft’s security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of technical experience, particularly with large-scale cloud or distributed systems, and 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as MCSE/MCSD.
  • Experience working in large-scale production datacenters.

Compensation:

  • Base Pay Range: USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year, with higher ranges in locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City.
