The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting team within Amazon's Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) team. Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Closing: Support and manage month-end closing activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Reconciliations & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, and perform detailed balance sheet analysis.
- Financial Reporting: Assist management in financial reporting, accounting systems, and policy development.
- Process Improvements: Play an important role in promoting system and process development to ensure ongoing efficiency and control enhancements.
- Operational Excellence: Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements and simplifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Certified Accountant: CA/ICWA/CIMA/CMA/CPA certification required.
- Corporate Finance Experience: Experience in corporate finance, budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Oracle, Access, Essbase, SQL, and VBA.
- Analytical Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication abilities.
- Adaptability: Flexible, well-organized, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Post-Qualification Experience: 0-4 years of post-qualification experience in accounting, month-end closing, sub-ledger work, and balance sheet reconciliation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Retail/Marketplace: Prior experience in retail or financial services is a plus.
- Knowledge of US GAAP: Familiarity with US GAAP principles would be beneficial.
- Advanced Skills: Proficiency in tools like TM1, Data Warehouse, and SQL.
- Lean Techniques: Knowledge of Six Sigma defect reduction techniques such as Lean would be preferred.
