Your Role and Responsibilities
Do you want to be part of a young department and help shape projects? Then you are in the right place with the Client Engineering Team! We are the Client Engineering Insurance Team and part of technical sales in the field of artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud technologies. Our goal is to conduct agile, collaborative projects with our customers. We are a bridge between technology and the delivery of IBM Business Value for clients, intertwining pre-sales engagement, minimal viable products (MVP) delivery, and marketing to bring technical expertise closer to our customers and partners. As a Business Technology Leader (BTL), you will be the interface between our IBM team and the customer.
As a BTL Master@IBM student, you will be part of the experts and advisors for customers, IBM sales teams, and/or IBM business partners. You will learn to understand the customer’s business requirements, technical requirements, and the competitive market. You will use these business insights to build and maintain customer relationships, integrate hardware, software, and services into customer-valuable solutions with the team, and ensure the customer is ready for implementing technical solutions. This is an opportunity to shape the future for both IBM and its customers.
Your tasks include:
- Supporting the development of business cases, including follow-up orders.
- Influencing the building, coaching, and inspiring of diverse and high-performing technical pre-sales teams with various digital and project-related skills and experiences.
- Supporting the design and implementation of innovative projects.
- Assisting with topics around the IBM portfolio, such as researching and documenting best practices.
- Participating in projects, including those related to AI.
- Supporting project management and customer presentations.
- Attending workshops, e.g., for requirements development.
- Preparing professional and strategic materials.
- Assisting with management tasks within the team.
The scope of tasks allows you to dedicate sufficient time to your master's studies. You will write your master's thesis in collaboration with your department.
What to Expect
Since 2020, IBM has offered the part-time Master@IBM program, which comes in 2 variants:
- Students are released for 18 hours/week or 23 hours/week for full-time studies and work accordingly 20 hours/week or 15 hours/week.
- Students only pay pension insurance contributions (not fully social insurance liable).
Monthly Salary (effective 01.05.24) for 15h/week:
- 1st Year: €1,020 gross
- 2nd Year: €1,331 gross
- 3rd Year: €1,474 gross
Monthly Salary (effective 01.05.24) for 20h/week:
- 1st Year: €1,360 gross
- 2nd Year: €1,775 gross
- 3rd Year: €1,965 gross

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- A good bachelor's degree in business informatics and/or digital business management/business administration with an average grade of 2.5 or better.
- Passion for topics like AI, hybrid cloud, quantum, and modern software development.
- Engagement, problem-solving skills, and readiness for new challenges.
- Willingness to take on responsibility and actively contribute.
- Strong communication and team skills.
- Flexibility and mobility.
- Excellent German and English skills.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Practical experience in project management and sales.
- Ideally, initial experience with the IBM product portfolio around Watsonx.
